Holiday Concert
Our Holiday Concert is this Thursday, December 15th. We will walk to the church and walk back after it ends. Students must have a permission slip filled out by a parent or guardian in order to participate.

End of 2nd Quarter
This Friday is the last day of the quarter before we are off for 2 weeks for Winter Break. Report cards will go home with students. School ends at 11:30 and there is no after-school care.

Special Duds for Dollars
This Wednesday we are having a special Duds for Dollars day.

No Homework
Because it is the last week before the break, we will not have any homework this week.

No Makeup Work Next Quarter
Due to the amount of extra paper being used, I am no longer going to be accepting makeup work after the break. Late work will still be accepted, however, but not for full credit.

Canned
Food Drive
Our school is having a canned food drive. The class that collects the most cans wins a party.

Thanksgiving Feast
The school is having our annual Thanksgiving Feast on Tuesday, November 22nd.  3rd, 5th, and 6th grades are in charge of turkeys. The school will provide the turkey but we will need some parents to cook them. Please let us know if you can cook a turkey for the kids.

Lending Library
The Lending Library will be open every Tuesday morning from 8 to 9am. This is a great resource if you need more books for you child to read for their Reading Log. Families, come and check out up to 5 books at a time!

Conference Week

The week of October 17th through the 21st is a week set aside for Parent-Teacher Conferences. I have a sign up sheet available for you to sign up for a time after school. Conferences will be approximately 15 minutes in length. This is a great way for me to touch base with you on how your child is doing.
Harvest Fest

La Paloma is holding our annual Festival on Friday, October 29th. Each class is having a booth that can be played for prizes! Parent,. please sign up if you want to volunteer to help run a booth.

Cookie Dough Fundraiser
The cookie dough fundraiser starts tomorrow and ends October 26.

Pencils
Unfortunately our class has broken three pencil sharpeners and has lost their pencil sharpener privileges. I encourage students to come to class with their own personal sharpener so they can complete class work.

Report Cards
Report cards will be sent home Wednesday. Remember this is a short day. There will be no lunch or after school on Wednesday.  

Fall Break
There is no school on Thursday and Friday!

Parent-Teacher Conferences
I have put a sign up sheet on my door for parent-teacher conferences. They will be scheduled next week, October 18-21. I would like to meet with all parents, so please sign up. This is a great time to discuss report cards.

Dear Parents

All students must leave campus at 11:30 so please make arrangements.Alphabeast book dueThe alpha beast book is due this Friday, October 7th. Students must turn it in by the deadline in order to receive full credit. After this Friday, 10 points for each day late will be docked. This is an important Science grade!Turning in any late workThis Friday, October 7th is also the last day for students to turn in any late work. Please check with your child to make sure they have turned in everything. It might be a good idea to check their backpack to see if there is any old work that needs to be finished and turned in.

Homework

Every week students will need to complete their Spelling Menu. On Monday they will complete the appetizer and turn it in on Tuesday. On Tuesday they will choose one entrĂ©e to complete and turn in on Wednesday. On Wednesday they choose one dessert to complete and turn in on Thursday. The math packet and reading log will be due on Friday.

Homework
Every Monday, students will receive their homework packet. It is due every Friday morning. The items in the homework packet are: Spelling Words, Spelling Word activities, Math Worksheets, and a Reading Log. Students are expected to read for 15 minutes every night of the week.  Parents, please sign the reading log every night that your child completely fills it out. On Fridays, students who finished all their homework and brought it to school will get to participate in the weekly reward. This includes a movie for an hour or games, and a snack.  Students who did not turn in their work will finish it during this hour and will not participate in the reward.
